al-Dana al-Janoubiyeh الدانا الجنوبية
al-Dana al-Janoubiyeh (الدانا الجنوبية) is a modern village on far eastern edge of Jebel al-Zawiyeh (جبل الزاوية) and Jebel Riha (جبل ريحا) which contains some remains of interest from the Byzantine period. Of particular note is the pyramid tomb, similar in style to those in al-Bara (البارة), found in northern section of the village. Other remains, probably domestic buildings, are scattered to the south. Within short walking distance to the north is the well preserved site of Qasr al-Banat (قصر البنات).
Note: Be aware that there are two sites covered on this website under the name al-Dana (الدانا). The other is located near Bab al-Hawa (باب الهوا) and Sarmada (سرمدا), in the north of the same province.
Getting There: Infrequent microbuses connect al-Dana al-Janoubiyeh (الدانا الجنوبية) with Maarat al-Naaman (معرة النعمان), a few kilometers to the south. Maarat al-Naaman (معرة النعمان) has frequent microbus connections with Aleppo (حلب) and occasional microbus connections with Idleb (إدلب) and Hama (حماة).
